BERNALILLO, N.M. -- Fresno State completed the sweep of Bowl Week events, winning the team bowling competition at Santa Ana Casino this evening. The Bulldogs, who won the El Pinto Chile Cook-off last night, outscored Colorado State 130-121 in a Baker System bowl-off.

Each player got to bowl one game before a member of each school's coaching staff selected a team of five players to dual on the lanes. Fresno State was represented by Robert Malone, Kenny Avon, Trevor Richter, Jake Jorde and Will Harding. The Rams' team was filled out by Jeff Horinek, Jake Galusha, Scott Albritton, Jake Pottorff and Jake Biddle.

After five frames, CSU held a one-point lead over Fresno (58-57) but back-to-back strikes from Malone and Avon, followed by a spare from Richter out the Bulldogs out in front for good. All five members of the winning team went home with portable dvd players as their prize.

Prior to bowling, hypnotist Rusty Z entertained the teams following dinner. He started with a dozen players from each team and then weeded them down to groups of six. The final six participants for Fresno State were Tapa Taumoepeau, Richard Helepiko, Anthony Williams, David Gory, Carl Schmitz and Kyle Knox. Representing Colorado State in the end was Paul Madsen, Marcus Shaw, Marquise Law, Eugene Daniels, Davs Burl and James Skelton.

Rusty Z had the players doing all sorts of entertaining acts throughout the hour-long performance. He hypnotized the players, putting them into a deep sleep with the snap of his fingers, and then suggested they do different acts or say random things when they woke up. Some of the highlights included the Rams' Davis Burl believing he could only tell time in Chinese. Fellow Ram Marcus Shaw thought that Marquise Law, who was sitting next to him, and the entire audience were wearing bikini bathing suits and hollered out in horror, "That's nasty. Put some clothes on." The Bulldogs' Kyle Knox didn't know the number four and skipped it when asked to count his fingers. Knox, an avid golfer, was then asked what is called out on a golf course when the ball is being driven down the fairway and he responded with a drawn-out shout, "FIVE."

The teams face a lighter day tomorrow, eating lunch at Sandia Resort & Casino at 11:30 a.m., followed by practice and the Pep Rally at University Stadium.
